4 Games People Play, When They Are
Not Really Committed To Being Obedient To God…
1. Let’s Make A Deal
You say God, I’ll do this for you God if you “Give Me A Blessing”
2. Let’s Settle For Less
God wants us to know victory in 100% of our lives.
3. Let’s Cash In or What’s In It For Me
People are cashing in and using the Lord’s Day and Church for all the wrong reasons.
4. Things Will Get Better
Things don’t get better, they get worse when God’s people allow the things of the world to creep in. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of the world.
Why Read the Word of God?
As we are just entering a new year, I thought it would be important to talk about one of the areas of the Christian walk, and that is reading the Word.
Jesus made it clear in Matthew 28 that the call of every believer is to go out and make disciples. Some synonyms for the word disciple are adherent, devotee, fanatic, and learner. How devoted are you to follow Jesus Christ? When I was young, I thought I could get by with just attending church services, and hardly ever pick up the Word of God. Let me tell you something, I could never have been more wrong and that is a mistake in my life I deeply regret to say the least. However, thank God for moving in my life and grabbing a hold of me, and light my soul on fire.
Let me quote Costi Hinn, “Discipleship is not a microwave experience, discipleship is more like a slow cooker experience”. Hebrews 4:12 (AMP) tells us, “For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.”. When you devote yourself to getting the Word of God in you on a consistent daily basis, I can promise you will not be the same. Psalm 119:105 (ESV) tells us, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”.
With all the distractions going on in the world, why not devote more time to God’s Word? We can become so distracted by the things of this world. The worries of this world often will weigh us down. For most of us our minds feed worldly things the majority of the time, why not feed it the Word of God more this year? Feed upon the Word of God day and night. I want to challenge you to commit to 30 minutes a day of Bible reading, even if it is an audio Bible. Commit to a consistent plan this year.
